Volunteer Success Stories
I have learned so much about what it means to provide quality care from the team at
P3. From talking to Mikey and the office staff about how to prioritize clients with quality
service and efficient office operations, to asking questions and understanding the minds
and practices of the physical therapists. I've learned about the various methods of care
used to treat patients' pain and the importance of getting stronger through various
exercises.
Working with the team at P3 alone has made the experience super worthwhile. I've been able to learn so much from everyone on the team while having a good time. Some of my best experiences have been asking questions and getting learning sessions with the physical therapists. Through these moments, they show me how they perform certain techniques and tell me why these techniques may be the most effective and applicable for various patients. It's especially memorable when I've gotten that 'light bulb moment' and the process as a whole seems more cohesive and I'm able to combine the knowledge I've learned.

I’m an aspiring physical therapist with a growing passion for the field and I couldn’t be
more excited about the journey I’m on! I recently had the amazing opportunity to
volunteer at R3 Athletic and Physical Therapy. From day one, the physical therapists
here were incredibly welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in my growth. They
shared valuable advice, personal experiences, and guided me on how to best pursue
my education and professional development.
During my time as a volunteer, I gained hands-on experience in patient interaction, basic rehab skills, and office workflow. These real-world experiences opened my eyes to the profound impact this profession can have and only fueled my passion even more. Being at R3 almost every day made me fall in love with physical therapy all over again. The environment, the people, and the work itself inspired and challenged me in the best ways possible. Like Stephen Curry raining down three-point “splashes” with relentless dedication and precision, I’m committed to perfecting my skills and knowledge to make my own mark in this field.
Through hard work and dedication, I was beyond thrilled to be offered the role of Aide Lead/Office Tech feeling like I just hit a Stephen Curry three-point splash! I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and so excited to continue growing with such an amazing team. The R3 staff treated me as more than just a volunteer, they believed in my potential and constantly pushed me to be better.

Becoming a volunteer at P3 has been an incredibly rewarding journey. After expressing
my interests to learn more about physical therapy, the team at P3 eagerly provided me
with many opportunities to dive head first into wonderful the work that goes on at the
clinic. The PTs at P3 are very talented and hardworking. It has been most inspiring
watching the meaningful impact they contribute to the Bay Area community, treating
patients with high quality care and creating friendly relationships. There is lots of
opportunity for growth in the volunteer position at P3 including learning more about
physical therapy treatments, building your communication skills, and being adaptive to
whatever tasks come your way.“

I think the biggest thing I learned at P3 was how different clinics offer different things.
For example, I remember you and Jordan telling me that the patients at P3 tend to pay
a bit more but in return will get longer one-on-one sessions with the PT which I thought
was really great because I know a lot of other clinics don't offer that long of a session. It
made me realize that in the future, I would want to work in a similar environment. What
was also meaningful to me was seeing how you and Jordan really care and have a
relationship with your patients.
I feel like in my short time at P3 I wasn't doing too much but just from observing I was able to learn a lot. I really appreciate you for taking the time to show me the different machines and answering any questions I had. Overall, I thought my time at P3 was very rewarding and would love to come back for future opportunities.
I hope we can reconnect soon and thank you for everything!

My time at P3 was always a learning experience. I had time to shadow and observe, and also
ask them questions whenever needed. All the PTs went above and beyond in trying to assist my
learning, and were extremely helpful in aiding my understanding of each of the therapies they
applied. I always knew why they did what they did, and got to know the routine of each client
quite well.
Dr. Jordan and Dr. Desiree were always super friendly and willing to chat with me about the therapies they used, which as a volunteer was gold. Dr. Michael did the same, asking for assistance and explaining each condition to me so that I understood better the reasoning for certain exercises.
Mikey and Alexis went above and beyond in making me feel welcomed and comfortable working with them, and I always had someone to ask for help if I was ever confused about a task or obligation.
All in all, a valuable experience for any future PTs or aides looking to work in a clinical setting!

During my final year of undergrad, I volunteered at P3 Athletic to explore a niche
specialty within physical therapy. From the start, I felt immersed in the P3 culture of
clinical excellence, quality patient-centered care, and sports rehabilitation expertise. The
volunteer experience was impactful. I felt like part of the patient journey, from helping
maintain an organized clinic space to witnessing physical therapy practiced in a way
that upheld high standards of care. Closely observing the physical therapists gave me
new insight into the qualities I hope to embody one day: how to communicate and
educate across diverse populations, how to adapt treatment plans to fit each athlete’s
needs, and how to make physical therapy not just a quick fix, but a long-term influence
on someone’s daily life. The physical therapists at P3 were welcoming, professional,
and inspiring mentors who actively supported my learning. I left the experience even
more fascinated about physical therapy and prepared with new perspectives to carry
into my future career.

My name is Nicholas Tran, I was a volunteer at P3 Athletic for a couple of weeks and
did not have the opportunity to continue due to school, but would stay if I had the
chance. I learned many things at P3 Athletic such as the process in which these
wonderful physical therapists approach pain and how to address different ailments that
each patient might have. I learned the care, passion, and persistence that is needed to
truly help a patient overcome pain and live a happier and healthier life. Whether it be
pain from everyday life, or pain specific to sports, the physical therapists at P3 athletic
never ceases to amaze me with their talent and expertise. P3 Athletic was meaningful
and worthwhile to me because it showed me how a cash based physical therapy clinic
can really allow physical therapists to help in the ways that are needed. It showed me
that patients were not simply people coming to them with pain, but instead people who
wish to live a life that they see for themselves.
